CDM supports professional societies and organizations that focus their efforts on enhancing the profession and practice of consulting, engineering, construction, and operations through continuing education, technology transfer, research and development, and government relations. Examples include the American Academy of Environmental Engineers, American Council of Engineering Companies, American Water Works Association, Association of Consulting Engineers Singapore, Design-Build Institute of America, Institution of Engineers of Ireland, International Association of Hydrogeologists, International Water Association, Society of American Military Engineers, Water Environment Federation, and many more. This support includes financial contributions, leadership positions, technical conference participation, and committee involvement.
CDM is also aligning with numerous professional organizations that are adopting and advancing sustainability concepts. Such organizations include the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Advisory Groups for ISO 14001 - Environmental Management System and the ISO Energy Management Standard.
Additionally, CDM has partnered with the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) in support of the Sustainable Communities Project. ICMA is the premier local government leadership and management organization and has adopted sustainability as "the issue of our age." Under this partner project, we will conduct research and develop knowledge resources for local government executives on sustainability with the goal of guiding professional city and county managers through the transition towards becoming a local government focused on integrating sustainability into day-to-day management and service delivery.
