Throughout our history, CDM has been a leader in providing lasting solutions for environmental and public health protection, while supporting economic growth and development. Today, we not only deliver innovative and sustainable solutions to our clients, but are more committed than ever to sustainable environmental practices in our own operations.
Among CDM's environmental stewardship activities are a long-term, award-winning recycling program that has lowered waste production volume by nearly 50 percent in our world headquarters; the use of Forest Stewardship Council-certified paper and printers, along with an emphasis on paperless marketing; use of ENERGY STARTM equipment; integration of hybrid vehicles into our firmwide fleet; and widespread use of electronic net meetings to minimize interoffice travel.
CDM is a member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's WasteWise program and an active member of Cambridge Climate Leaders, a communitywide partnership with the city of Cambridge, Massachusetts—location of CDM's world headquarters—to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
LEED Interiors/Offices
With more than 100 offices, CDM is acting responsibly by identifying ways to increase energy and water efficiency, and reduce the environmental impacts of our offices. One approach we are taking is to incorporate Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Green Building Rating System standards into our office renovations, expansions, and relocations.
The rating system—a voluntary, consensus-based national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings—promotes a holistic approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
CDM's downtown Los Angeles office was designed in accordance to specific requirements of the LEED for Commercial Interiors (LEED-CI) Version 2.0 rating system. CDM's staff of LEED-accredited architects and engineers helped select the new downtown office space and designed the tenant improvements, which conforms to LEED-CI V2.0 criteria in four key sustainability areas.
