Supporting a Regional Partnership for Sustainable Water Supply/Sanitation

Launched in late 2001, the West Africa Water Initiative (WAWI) is a global partnership of 15 institutions working together to provide potable water supply, sanitation, hygiene, and integrated water resources management for vulnerable rural and urban populations in Ghana, Mali, and Niger. The CDM-led USAID/Environmental Health Project team provided technical assistance in two key areas: 1) developing a monitoring and evaluation plan for WAWI and selecting of indicators to measure progress toward WAWI's objectives; and 2) assessing the far-reaching hygiene promotion activities undertaken by all WAWI partners.
