CDM installed a Six-Phase™ heating remedial system and is performing a treatability study (TS) on trichloroethene (TCE)-contaminated groundwater and soil near the Paducah gaseous diffusion plant's C-400 facility. The TS will determine the applicability and performance of the Six-Phase™ heating in the contaminated unsaturated and saturated zones of the Upper Continental recharge system and the regional gravel aquifer. The TS will include multipart monitoring wells, electrodes, vacuum piezometers, system installation, above ground system operation and maintenance, and TS report development.
CDM evaluated the results of the study and documented them in a treatability study report. This report included a determination of the cost per volume of TCE removed using this technology, and the applicability of the technology to larger-scale remediation of groundwater contamination at the Paducah gaseous diffusion plant.
