AzurixCDM (a joint company of Azurix North America and Camp Dresser & McKee Inc.), in association with Dillingham Construction, permitted, designed, and constructed Seattle Public Utilities' $101 million Tolt treatment facility. When dedicated in March 1, 2001, it was the largest water treatment facility completed in the U.S. using a design-build-operate procurement approach.
The 120-mgd treatment facility uses ozonation and high-rate direct filtration, and supplies approximately one-third of Seattle's 1.3 million customers with high-quality drinking water that surpasses current and future standards. AzurixCDM completed the plant on schedule and within budget and will operate the facility for an initial 15-year term, with the opportunity for two 5-year extensions.
This project won the 2002 Grand Award in Design from the American Academy of Environmental Engineers.
