The Village Water and Sanitation Program was designed to provide safe and sustainable water and sanitation services in the West Bank and Gaza. Implemented through a series of task orders under the CDM-led USAID/Environmental Health Project, the program supports one of USAID's strategic objectives: greater access to and more effective use of scarce water resources. Major components include design of new water supply infrastructure; design and implementation of a community-based environmental health program; design/implementation of institutional strengthening programs; and critical assistance to repair and restore water supply and sanitation systems. Based in CDM offices in Al-Ram, a 20-member team of international and Palestinian specialists closely coordinated the program with the Palestinian Water Authority, USAID, and other agencies.
