Pollution Prevention Services

Under a pollution prevention design contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Europe District, CDM provided services at numerous U.S. Army installations in Germany.

Tasks have included:

  • Asbestos surveys, comprehensive survey and re-survey reports, risk assessments/hazard ranking forms, and management plans.
  • Potable water distribution systems assessments, water treatment practices, sampling/monitoring programs, vulnerability to natural disasters and accident plans, emergency contingency plans, and practice improvement recommendations.
  • Air emissions inventories of 580 emission sources, including heating plants, spray painting facilities, pesticide shops, fuel dispensing facilities, Department of Defense vehicles, photo labs, print shops, and solvent use areas.
  • Spill prevention, control, and countermeasures (SPCC) plans for over 500 facilities located at five installations. CDM collected information about hazardous materials and hazardous waste storage and use areas, developed a database, and created maps to show hazardous waste spill drainage directions and sensitive environmental features that could be adversely affected by a spill.
