Since 1995, CDM has provided operations and maintenance (O&M) services for two groundwater remediation facilities and a field support laboratory at the Paducah gaseous diffusion plant. The northwest plume groundwater system and northeast plume containment system were constructed and are being operated as interim remedial actions to control the contamination and mitigate the spread of the plumes. An environmental restoration field support laboratory, which includes two gas chromatographs; a liquid scintillation counter; and laboratory support, data management, and sample management equipment, supports trichloroethene and technetium-99 sample analysis for the two plume systems. CDM also developed O&M plans and related documents, required by regulators and the Department of Energy, and procedures covering all aspects of O&M and laboratory operations.
CDM conducted start-up, shakedown, and integrated tests at both treatment facilities and the laboratory. CDM has also developed and implemented training packages for facility operators, supervisors, and support personnel, and provided the client with data management, health and safety, project management, project reporting, technical, and quality assurance support.
