The Northern Governorates Water Transmission Feasibility Study (NGWTFS)—a task order under the Architect-Engineering Services in the Water Resources, Environmental/ Sanitary, Civil and Industrial Engineering Fields Indefinite Quantity Contract—involved assessing available surface water and groundwater resources, existing and future water demands, and existing municipal water supply facilities.
The ultimate result of the study was a list of prioritized water infrastructure projects through the year 2030 in the Northern Governorates Water Authority (NGWA) service area. Facilities will include water transmission mains and associated components—distribution storage reservoirs, pump stations, water treatment plants, and a centralized monitoring and control system. The locations, capacities, and estimated costs for these facilities were established under the study, making the best use of the current knowledge base and many previous and ongoing studies and system developments in the NGWA service area, as well as in the evolving water sector.
