CDM provided design services for the Port Authority's Stage II light rail transit (LRT) program. The project included construction and/or reconstruction of 12 miles of a double-track light rail system. The design included extensive earthwork, several major bridges, several miles of retaining walls, a new signal system and overhead contact system, new traction power substations, passenger stations, and a new state-of-the-art operations control center. CDM, part of a joint venture with several other firms provided the structural, architectural, electrical, geotechnical, and drainage designs, as well as hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, geographic information system (GIS) analysis, environmental and regulatory compliance support, federal, state, and local permit coordination, and coordination of right-of-way acquisition activities. In addition, CDM managed the project control's system for the project.
