CDM helped Lucent Technologies' Merrimack Valley Works facility establish a strategic environmental management system (EMS), achieving ISO 14001 certification and an effective H&S MS which received OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program STAR designation. The CDM team worked closely with the plant's senior management to develop and implement this strategy to educate, communicate with, and establish environmental and safety controls for all organizations within the facility. CDM provided strategic consultation and management system development and implementation, and collaborated with Lucent on identifying environmental and safety aspects, a process that united EH&S staff and operations personnel in a common mission. CDM also trained a facility-wide implementation team of Lucent leaders.
The EMS has helped Lucent demonstrate to its customers and other stakeholders that the firm is committed to environmental responsibility, product and plant safety, and cost-efficiency.
