The Fort Worth Central City (FWCC) project is an urban revitalization and flood protection effort that encompasses a 3-mile stretch of the Clear and West forks of the Trinity River, just north of downtown Fort Worth.
To meet the information needs of the many stakeholders involved, CDM recommended a centrally managed, Web-based data management system to provide efficient and secure access to the volume of data that will be generated throughout the life of the project.
CDM designed, developed, and is implementing a centralized, enterprise repository as the core data integration service that maintains and references disparate data components, such as:
-
Geographic information systems layers, real estate acquisition processes, and environmental site assessment databases
-
Third-party software integration, such as document management and computer-aided design and drafting file management software
-
A synchronized data security subsystem that will protect FWCC project data down to the file level
Special purpose applications, such as a global positioning system-enabled field data collection system, were developed to allow specialized staff members to collect and upload information with data integrity and efficient workflow assured.
The key visual tool is the Web portal, which enables right-time data awareness and communication among project stakeholders. The portal solution consolidates, visualizes, and facilitates the use of decision-support data in a standard Web browser environment, allowing users to easily navigate the information and guaranteeing accuracy, timeliness, and security.
