Design-Build Water and Wastewater Improvements

CDM was selected by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to provide water and wastewater system improvements in Budva, Kotor, and Cetinje, Montenegro. Under a US$8 million design-build, fast-track contract, CDM designed and constructed a variety of improvements, including providing additional water storage, repairing transmission lines, and upgrading pump stations. The program enhanced water supply in all three cities and prevented wastewater overflows to the bathing beaches in Budva and to sensitive coastal and historically significant areas in Kotor—a United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site. Cetinje, which rests slightly inland, is a former capital of Montenegro and home to numerous historic landmarks and tourist attractions, including the National Museum.

The contract is a task order under the Architect-Engineering Services in the Water Resources, Environmental/Sanitary, Civil and Industrial Engineering Fields Indefinite Quantity Contract. CDM's work was completed under USAID's Montenegro Coastal Development and Environment Activity Water and Wastewater Improvements Project, and in parallel with the Community Revitalization through Democratic Action Project (CRDA), a US$27 million community development program promoting citizen participation and increasing community involvement in local government decision making.
