On a design-build basis, CDM delivered a new glass crushing and industrial hygiene facility that conforms to rigid health and safety requirements for employees. In the glass crushing operation, "cullet" is crushed and fed to silos prior to being fed into furnaces.
To ensure that the manufacturing plant maintained production schedules, CDM demolished the existing building, constructed a new one, and reinstalled all of the process equipment in a sequenced approach. The equipment included a storage silo, furnaces, and various glass crushing manufacturing equipment. Design and construction of the industrial hygiene facility consisted of site excavation, erection of a three-story masonry building, and a floor design that protects employees from lead exposure.
