CDM performed demolition and site remediation services at a titanium dioxide production facility. Remediation and restoration included asbestos abatement, titanium dioxide removal, process tank and floor cleaning of the former facility, excavation and removal of over 350 tons of contaminated soil, and dismantling of the industrial complex including buildings, machinery, process and fuel tanks, and transformers. The site was then graded and seeded in preparation for future use. Demolition included over 10 acres of process facilities, one tidal basin, four above ground and three underground fuel storage tanks, and two former substations. In addition, CDM investigated, removed, separated, and disposed of 30 cubic yards of naturally occurring radioactive material waste.
