Dallas Energy Management

In Dallas, CDM is evaluating energy use and management practices to develop a strategy for purchasing electricity in a deregulated marketplace. The project includes assistance with procuring a retail electric provider and identifying ways to leverage the city's $50 million-per-year electricity purchasing power for overall energy cost reduction. CDM worked with the city to develop an energy-needs consensus among its 15 departments and crafted an action plan for meeting those diverse needs. Through workshops, CDM shared information with and gathered input from city representatives on energy procurement issues and deregulation strategy planning. The resulting deregulation plan incorporates energy management and a framework for electricity purchases designed to capture savings available in a competitive electric utility environment.
