As part of its plant enhancement program, and to provide remote access over the citywide intranet, the Cleveland Division of Water (CWD) needed programming services for its Nottingham, Baldwin, and Morgan facilities. To complete the first three of nine necessary projects, CDM had to finalize the programming at two of the facilities to meet early construction milestones that were already in place. This work was accomplished while also successfully incorporating a combination of cutting-edge hardware, system architecture, and software. Additional work included developing system-wide programmable logic controller (PLC)/human-machine interface (HMI)/database standards and conventions by utilizing a workshop approach; PLC/HMI software applications; customized daily, monthly, and regulatory reports; and customized drivers. In addition, the CDM team conducted operator training, and performed onsite system testing and startup, as well as factory- and field-testing of each system.
