Calcasieu Estuary Superfund Site Remedial Investigation

CDM is currently supporting the EPA on a major remedial investigation and human health/ecological risk assessment on a Gulf Coast estuary site that is contaminated by industrial operations and waste disposal. CDM designed the remedial investigation as a two-phase effort due to the project's scale and the nature of activities within the estuary. Phase I involved an estuary-wide investigation covering five major bayous to determine the presence of contaminants and an ecological risk assessment to identify types of contaminants, their concentrations, and the risks they posed to the ecosystem.  Phase II focused on verifying contaminant results and collecting data to support the human health and ecological risk assessments. CDM completed the collection, analysis, and data entry of over 2,000 environmental samples in less than 18 months, and supported EPA's community relations program on this high-interest effort.
