CDM performed a geographic information system (GIS) needs assessment and developed an implementation plan for CAA. The needs assessment commenced with a workshop that introduced GIS concepts and typical airport uses, and continued with a series of CAA staff interviews covering 11 divisions. After the assessment, an analysis and prioritization of GIS application requirements and the development of an implementation plan to meet those requirements were completed. The three-phase, 5-year implementation plan addressed a prioritized application development schedule, plans to use and/or develop data layers to support background mapping and applications (i.e., runways/taxiways, lighting/signage, parking facilities), and hardware and software procurement necessary to maintain and deliver the GIS data.
