Non-governmental organizations (NGOs), private voluntary organizations (PVOs), and regional institutions serve a vital role in advancing the objectives of sustainable development and environmental improvement in developing and fully industrialized countries. Through more than 40 years of international leadership, CDM has worked with these institutions, both as client and as collaborating partner.
CDM has worked under contract to NGOs in disaster response and post-conflict reconstruction, such as structural damage assessments for Catholic Relief Services following the 2004 tsunami disaster, and post-conflict infrastructure development and environmental management efforts at the community level in the Balkans, with International Relief and Development (IRD).
For several years, in its program management of USAID-sponsored global programs for water and sanitation and environmental health, CDM has partnered with international NGOs and PVOs, such as CARE, PSI, World Vision, and Save the Children; with international institutions, like Johns Hopkins University Center for Communication Programs and London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine; and with various regional NGOs and institutions.
Additionally, we have routinely engaged local educational and research institutions and community organizations in services related to implementation of major environmental and infrastructure projects requiring specialized local knowledge as well as community outreach and public participation. Examples include projects in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Ireland.
