Polluted stormwater runoff is one of the leading causes of impaired water bodies and managing this runoff is necessary to prevent flooding, erosion, and pollution of receiving waters. CDM understands that stormwater management programs must comply with applicable regulations, be technically effective in meeting water quantity and quality goals, and be affordable. Our approach considers the entire hydrologic cycle and the natural hydrology of a given area to identify sustainable multi-benefit solutions that maximize flood control and water quality benefits while often incorporating open space and water features to provide aesthetic and recreational assets to the community.
CDM is committed to using the right tool for the job. In addition to proficiency within the spectrum of commercial models, CDM has developed several state-of-the-art tools for stormwater management, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Stormwater Management Model (SWMM), GIS processing tools to automate model setup and output processing for floodplain maps and facility plans, and graphical viewers to inspect data and results in animation mode. Using efficient technologies such as high-rate clarification, flow equalization, enhanced primary clarification, and real-time controls, CDM is helping clients effectively manage stormwater and consistently achieve water quality standards.
