When applied appropriately, bioremediation is a very cost-effective and environmentally acceptable remedial technology. CDM uses a multidisciplinary approach to evaluate the use of bioremediation, carefully examining the physical and chemical conditions of a site, biochemistry of the contaminant(s), and circumstances in which the contaminant(s) are biodegradable. Early involvement of CDM experts in developing site characterizations and remedial strategies results in focused field investigations and early regulatory acceptance of remedial design. This focused approach facilitates cost savings and assurance that the selected biotechnology is acceptable, technically sound, and defensible.
