TSCA

The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) of 1976 was enacted by Congress to give the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency the ability to track the 75,000 industrial chemicals produced or imported into the United States. EPA repeatedly screens these chemicals and can require reporting or testing of those chemicals that may pose an environmental or human-health hazard, and can ban the manufacture and import of those chemicals that pose an unreasonable risk. TSCA supplements other federal statutes, including the Clean Air Act and the Toxic Release Inventory.

CDM has assisted clients by providing strategic direction regarding the applicability of the TSCA regulations. From initial site investigation through treatment system evaluation, design, and remediation, CDM specializes in addressing the affects of chemical substances on soil, water, and air. CDM has been at the forefront of site investigation techniques including the application of immunoassay testing methods, Aroclor analysis, congener analysis, and the evaluation of partitioning of polychlorinated biphenyls by soil particle size distribution.
