CDM Named Best Workplace for Recycling
July 26, 2007
BELLEVUE, WASHINGTON—CDM, the global consulting, engineering, construction, and operations firm, was named one of the "Best Workplaces for Recycling" by King County for the firm's outstanding recycling program and commitment to making recycling easy for employees. CDM's recycling activities in King County include providing recycling bins at every employee's workstation and in common areas, using recycled content paper and other products, and providing employees tips on how to recycle more.
Recycling is one of many sustainability performance improvement activities underway at CDM. Others include office-based greenhouse gas emission inventories; the use of Forest Stewardship Council-certified paper and printing processes, along with an emphasis on paperless marketing; use of Energy Star TM equipment; integration of hybrid vehicles into the firmwide fleet; widespread use of electronic meetings to minimize interoffice travel; and a comprehensive in-house employee training and development program that delivers more than 18,000 hours per year of customized online education and reduces transportation-related environmental impacts.
CDM is also an active member of Cambridge Climate Leaders and the Cambridge Energy Alliance, communitywide partnerships with the city of Cambridge, Massachusetts-location of CDM's world headquarters-to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In addition, CDM maintains active partnerships with organizations like ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, the leading association collaborating with local governments to address issues related to climate change and sustainability.
In addition, CDM assists organizations worldwide in addressing the full spectrum of sustainability performance improvement, including resource management and recycling, and incorporates sustainability principles into our engineering and construction projects.
