Year:
2002

Project:
Kingston, Massachusetts Wastewater Reclamation Project

Given by:
National Ground Water Association

Award Title:
2002 Outstanding Project in Groundwater Protection

CDM planned, designed, and managed the construction of an innovative wastewater treatment and disposal system for Kingston, Massachusetts. The system irrigates a golf course with reclaimed water during the growing season and disposes of the water at a leaching field under the practice range when the irrigation water is not needed. A stakeholder involvement process and a public-private partnership facilitated acceptance of reclaimed water use, a technology that was new to New England. This creative project protects and restores groundwater in a stressed, closed-river basin and provides new insight into the use of reclaimed water.
